Basics
Gear Ascension unlocks at Level 38, and allows players to make Gear even stronger. Ascending a piece of Gear grants a random bonus stat, known as an Ascension Bonus. Here is the list of possible Ascension Bonuses for each Gear Type:
To Ascend a piece of Gear, it must be at least Rank 4 and upgraded to Level 12.
Ascending Gear
The maximum Ascension Level for a piece of Gear is equal to its Rank. For example, if you have a Rank 4 Artifact, it can be Ascended 4 times. You don’t need Silver to Ascend Gear, and it doesn't become more expensive after it is Ascended.
When a piece of Gear is Ascended for the first time, it gets an Ascension Bonus. This is an extra stat that can be upgraded further with every Level of Ascension. The Ascension Bonus will remain the same after this piece of Gear is reworked with Chaos Ore, but you can change the Ascension Bonus with Chaos Dust (if it's an Artifact) or Chaos Powder (if it's an Accessory.)
Oils
To Ascend Artifacts, you need a special resource called Oil. There are three types of Oil:
- Lesser Oil. Used to Ascend Artifacts to Levels 1 and 2 of Ascension.
- Greater Oil. Used to Ascend Artifacts to Levels 3 and 4 of Ascension.
- Superior Oil. Used to Ascend Artifacts to Levels 5 and 6 of Ascension.
To Ascend an Artifact to Level 6 of Ascension, you will need all three types of Oils.
Earning Oils
All players will receive Oils when they reach Level 38 and unlock Artifact Ascension. More Oils can be earned in Tournaments and Events, and acquired from Limited Special Offers.
However, the primary way of earning Oils is by raiding the Sand Devil’s Necropolis. Like other Dungeons with similar resources, the higher the Stage, the higher the chance of getting Greater and Superior Oils. In the Sand Devil’s Necropolis, you can also earn Silver, Ancient Shards, XP, and Chaos Dust.
Extracts
To Ascend Accessories, you need a special resource called Extract. There are three types of Extract:
- Lesser Extract. Used to Ascend Accessories to Levels 1 and 2 of Ascension.
- Greater Extract. Used to Ascend Accessories to Levels 3 and 4 of Ascension.
- Superior Extract. Used to Ascend Accessories to Levels 5 and 6 of Ascension.
To Ascend an Accessory to Level 6 of Ascension, you will need all three types of Extracts.
Earning Extracts
All players will receive Extracts when they reach Level 38 and unlock Accessory Ascension. More Extracts can be earned in Tournaments and Events, and acquired from Limited Special Offers.
However, the primary way of earning Extracts is by raiding the Phantom Shogun's Grove. Like other Dungeons with similar resources, the higher the Stage, the higher the chance of getting Greater and Superior Extracts. In the Phantom Shogun's Grove, you can also earn Silver, Ancient Shards, XP, and Chaos Powder.
Oil Mixer
If you don’t have the required Oils for Artifact Ascension, you can use the Oil Mixer to combine lower-tier Oils into higher-tier ones.
Extract Mixer
If you don’t have enough Extracts for Accessory Ascension, you can use the Extract Mixer to combine lower-tier Extracts into higher-tier ones.
Instant Ascension
Similar to upgrading Gear, there are two ways to Ascend Gear. You can either Ascend Gear one Level at a time, or you can Ascend it to the maximum possible Level depending on how many Oils or Extracts you have available.
Ascension Bonus Reworking
You can rework the Ascension Bonus on your Artifacts with Chaos Dust, and rework the Ascension Bonus on your Accessories with Chaos Powder.
Chaos Dust can be obtained on Stage 25 of the Sand Devil’s Necropolis, and Chaos Powder can be obtained on Stage 25 of the Phantom Shogun’s Grove. You can use the Oil Mixer to combine Superior Oils into Chaos Dust or Superior Extracts into Chaos Powder. Also, you can get Chaos Dust and Chaos Powder in Events and Tournaments, and in limited Special Offers.
All the Chaos Dust and Chaos Powder you obtain is stored in the Artifact Ascension and Accessory Ascension tabs. To access them, choose a piece of Gear in your storage, tap Upgrade, then select the Ascend tab on the right-hand side. The amount of Chaos Dust and Chaos Powder you can store is unlimited.
Reworking Rules
- You can rework the Ascension Bonus on any piece of Gear that has already been Ascended, regardless of its Rank and Rarity.
- The number of times you can rework the Ascension Bonus on each piece of Gear is unlimited.
- For every piece of Gear, each subsequent reworking costs more than the previous one. After a piece of Gear's Ascension Bonus has been reworked for the 7th time, the cost won’t change anymore.
- Reworking doesn’t change the Gear’s Ascension Level.
Reworking Process
To change the Ascension Bonus for an Artifact or an Accessory, choose it in your storage and tap Upgrade. Then select the Ascend tab on the right-hand side, tap on the Chaos Dust or Chaos Powder icon, and press Rework. The Ascension Bonus will be randomly changed to another Ascension Bonus from the pool of Bonuses available for that type of Gear. The Ascension Bonus always changes after reworking.
